Description: ------------ Need to terminate a program? But hate to take a break while the windows taskmanager takes aeons to do that? Finally, the taskmanager is unable to terminate it, because the program crashed but nevertheless remains in your system's no man's land, occupying valuable resources? AppSwat is your solution! AppSwat terminates any process unconditionally and frees your system, making it work again. Basic features: --------------- *Select processes to terminate from the list by checking the box to the left or doubleclicking the process name, then push the [Kill Process] button. Push the [Refresh List] button to make sure AppSwat shows the actually running processes, e.g. if you started application after AppSwat. When killing a process, the process list is automatically refreshed. *You can minimize AppSwat to the system tray now by clicking on the minimize button on the right of the window title bar. AppSwat will stay in your system tray until you doubleclick the trayicon. Convenient for frequent use of AppSwat, e.g. while programming. Advanced features: ------------------ *Command line support: AppSwat supports process termination from the command-line. Just give the full name of the program to terminate, including its extension, but excluding its path as a parameter to AppSwat. For example: If you want to terminate the windows notepad, enter appswat notepad.exe at the DOS-prompt. *Integration in windows startup: If you want AppSwat to run on every windows start, you can add a link to AppSwat in your system's startup folder. Add /minimize as the first parameter in the properties dialog of the link, so that the full line will be something like c:\.......\appswat.exe /minimize. For your convenience there's an option to add AppSwat with all needed parameters to the system registry startup section, so that you don't have to create the link yourself. This option can be accessed via the trayicon menu, which appears when you click with the right mousebutton on the AppSwat trayicon. Be sure to uncheck this option before uninstalling AppSwat from your system to remove the created registry entry. Known issues/bugs: ------------------ From v1.3.0.0 on AppSwat uses the OS enhancements, that come with comctl32.dll v4.70 or higher. This version is installed with Internet explorer 3.x or higher and is available for download from Microsoft and a lot of freeware sites. So if AppSwat doesn't show/work correctly on your system, please update your OS. For those of you that don't want or cannot update, the older version of AppSwat is still available from our website.
